On 04 April 2016, there was held a workshop on the tradition of painting Easter eggs. Coached by CCR art teacher – Tatiana Presneacova, with the help of the local and EVS volunteers, more than 15 refugee women and children were engaged in practicing the art of egg painting and learned about the symbols of Easter red eggs. Our volunteers invited a group of children from the Placement Centre “Small Group Homes” from Chisinau, who joined the refugee children and participated together in painting the eggs and other creative activities during the workshop.
The next day, on 05 May 2016, the Easter celebration took place, organized at the CCR’s premises. Our colleagues from UNHCR joined us to share the celebration, together with more than 100 refugees, asylum seekers and beneficiaries of humanitarian protection – men, women and children.
In the last years, CCR has been collaborating with the Metropolis of Moldova, and this year we also had the honor to invite the Priest Constantin Cojocaru, who told about the origins of the Easter, the symbols and traditions respected by the Christianism, and kindly asked various questions of the most audience.
CCR is keen to respect the traditional and national holidays, and aims to ensure the cultural exchange among its beneficiaries, thus to bring them closer to the local life style and culture.
